Democratic Talking Points
S.O.S.--S.O.S. signals from the GOP are getting louder every day--"Save Our Senate". First, Larry Craig flushed his career down the toilet. Then, John Warner announced his retirement. The latest to throw in the towel is Chuck Hagel. And, don't forget Sen. Ted Stevens who is spending a lot of time with the FBI up north. Senators Susan Collins, John Sununu, Norm Coleman, and Gordon Smith are also about to retire--involuntarily. There are some safe Republican Senate seats in 2008--the ones not up for re-election.
Flying Blind--The Inspector General of the Justice Dept. just reported that the government's terrorism watch list is in error 38% of the time. That means there is only about a one in three chance that a terrorist will be sitting next to you on a plane. Another stellar achievement by the Bush administration in the War on Terror.
Mickey Mouse--Alberto Gonzales was spotted during the Labor Day weekend at Disney World with his family and his security detail. Donald Duck and Goofy can be mean hombres! I know Pinocchio must have been disappointed that Alberto didn't let him measure who has a longer nose.
Things go better with Coke--What was Iraq supposed to be about? Democracy? WMD's? Osama? Speaking of Osama, he looked quite well on his latest video. Actually, he looked quite mellow. Could be the result of the Afghan opium production increasing by 34% over last year and funding all of the Taliban operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Osama does a lot better with opium production in Afghanistan than the U.S. does with oil production in Iraq. It will take until 2015 for Iraq to produce enough oil to meet its domestic electricity needs.
Dumb & Dumber--General Mike Johnson, who led British troops during the invasion of Iraq, said that Rumsfeld was an imbecile in his handling of postwar Iraq. He also criticized President Bush for putting the Pentagon in charge of postwar administration of Iraq instead of the State Department. Let's see...that means if Rumsfeld is an imbecile that must make President Bush an idiot. According to medical science, idiots have lower IQ's than imbeciles. |
