BLUE FATHER

Democratic Talking Points

Lincoln Logs--The Log Cabin Republicans, the national organization of Gay Republicans, may soon be changing its name in the wake of the Larry Craig scandal to Log Bathroom Republicans. Of all the Republican vultures circling Craig's corpse last week, one prominent Republican Senator was strangely silent--David Vitter. Vitter just doesn't have the same old fire and brimstone that he used to have.

Republican Boobs--Once again the Bush Administration and the Republican Party have demonstrated how the only health care they are concerned about is the health of American corporations. When the federal Office on Women's Health developed an ad campaign to educate women about the risks of not breast feeding, the Bush Administration leapt to the defense of the infant formula industry and censored the ads. This leads us to the question of whether formula feeding stunts mental growth and the inevitable conclusion that President Bush was bottle fed as an infant.

Bow and Arrows Anyone?--The Bush Administration is trying to figure out how to make sure police departments around the country have enough bullets. It seems that the war in Iraq has created a shortage of ammunition in the U.S. which has caused domestic police agencies to ration bullets and cut back on weapons training. Sounds like it's time to create a Dept. of Homeland Security. Oh, that's right; we already have one.

The Republican Robin Hood--Flash! Flash! Rudy Giuliani just announced that if he were elected King, I mean President, he would make permanent Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy and eliminate inheritance taxes. In the Republican Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood steals from the poor to make the rich wealthier and then tells the poor he's really helping them. To quote Rudy, "The Republican Party is the party of the people." Too bad some of those people don't include his own children.

Republican Democracy--Name the country where members of all Christian denominations are being butchered, priests are being beheaded, and churches are being bombed. Yes, this is democracy at work in Iraq. What is the Bush administration doing about it? Absolutely nothing. Christian Iraqis aren't part of the democracy "plan".
