Democratic Talking Points
Abstinence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder--President Bush and the Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) are counting condoms again. An HHS report released last week criticizes one sex-education curriculum for mentioning condoms 383 times vs. only 5 times for abstinence. HHS administrator, Harry Wilson, complained that abstinence is being "given the short end of the stick." Need we say more?
Surging Ahead!--Yes, Iraq is surging ahead on the 2007 Failed States Index. Last year it ranked number 4 on the list of the world's most unstable states. This year it has moved up to number 2, ahead of Somalia, Zimbabwe, North Korea, and Afghanistan. Sudan is number one. We're confident that, by this time next year, President Bush can push Iraq to the top of the list.
Help Wanted Ad-"Justice Department seeking federal prosecutors to fill positions vacated through resignations and firings. Experience picketing abortion clinics necessary; born-again credentials preferred; ability to keep your food down in the presence of Alberto Gonzales essential."
Quality, not Quantity--In addition to contaminated toothpaste, China has become a major supplier of cheap drugs and drug ingredients for Americans. India is also a major supplier. The FDA, however, rarely conducts quality control inspections of these foreign facilities--which leads one to wonder why Republicans are so opposed to Americans buying Canadian drugs. Oh, that's right; the Republicans argue that they're concerned about the "quality" of Canadian drugs.
Dick "F--you" Cheney--It's not enough for our VP to refuse to obey the laws governing the handling of classified information by his office. Not only is he above the law, but he recently tried to abolish the federal office charged with enforcing those laws. Alberto Gonzales has promised to investigate this further. |
