Democratic Talking Points

Buy a Copy of Hustler Magazine--Larry Flynt is offering a $1 million bounty for anyone who can document illicit sexual or intimate relations with a member of Congress or other prominent officeholder. Considering how many people have been screwed by Republicans during the last six years, this bounty could cost Flynt hundreds of millions of dollars. So buy your copy of Hustler today--Larry is going to need to sell lots of copies.

Surgeward Ho!--South Dakota ranchers want to kill those pesky varmints called prairie dogs while environmentalists want to protect them. In the past the Bush administration's Solomonic solution was to protect prairie dogs in some areas and poison them in other areas. Last week the Bush administration decided that the prairie dogs must die and has authorized a poison surge on the lone prairie. Move along, little doggies...

A Spoonful of Sugar Helps the Medicine go Down--Unless you're a diabetic and taking the drug Avandia. Henry Waxman criticized the FDA for "dropping the ball" by not requiring the drug manufacturer to analyze the drug's fatal side effects. FDA commissioner Andrew C. von Eschenbach said he is still analyzing the data. In the meantime, Von Eschenbach continues to brush his teeth with Chinese toothpaste.

Don't Count Your Chickens before they Hatch--GSA chief Lurita Alexis Doan laid some eggs in January during a presentation by Karl Rove's Office of Political Affairs at a meeting of GSA political appointees. The presentation targeted Democratic seats in 2008. This violates the Hatch Act, which prohibits laying blue or red eggs on government property.

The Archie Bunker Award--Henrietta Holsman Fore has just been nominated for the Archie Bunker Award in recognition of her diverse anti-Black, anti-Hispanic, and anti-Asian remarks in the past. She also has been nominated to administer the U.S. Agency for International Development and serve as director of foreign assistance. What is her current job? She is in charge of "diversity" at the State Department. If she doesn't get the nomination, there may be an opening for someone with her qualifications in the diversity office at the Justice Department.
